What is Applied Behavior Analysis?

Available for children ages 3-12

Applied Behavior Analysis is a form of treatment based on the science of learning and behavior.

Applied Behavior Analysis can increase communication skills, improve attention, focus, social skills, memory and academics, and decrease problem behaviors.

At Elite DNA, we use proven evidence-based techniques and a tailored approach to care that allows us to provide unique support for each individual. Through these techniques we work to reinforce positive behaviors and create a significant improvement in human behavior.

Applied Behavior Analysis can help improve communication, attention, focus, and social skills in children when used as an early intervention technique.

How does Applied Behavior Analysis work?

Initially, we will perform an evaluation so we can assess what your child is experiencing and determine the optimal treatment plan. Every client is different and requires a unique approach, so this is an important step in the process. Our therapists will recommend how often your child will return for treatment.

Techniques that may be implemented include:

  • positive reinforcement
  • modeling where we demonstrate desired behaviors
  • picture exchange where we use pictures to help individuals identify feelings and behaviors.

Can Applied Behavior Analysis help me?

Applied Behavioral Analysis can be helpful to families in many ways.

Signs your child may benefit from Applied Behavior Analysis therapy include:

  • being unable to perform self-care tasks
  • experiencing challenges in classroom or work settings
  • having difficulty with transitioning from one setting to another or changes in routine
  • inability to identify or communicate emotions

Your experienced, certified analyst, along with our team of technicians, will work with the parent(s) to design a treatment plan that uses various methods of therapy. Your plan may include activities that can help improve social skills in kids and adolescents. This can involve interactive play with others, taking turns, increasing eye contact when communicating, respecting personal space, and reinforcing basic social skills.

What can I expect from Applied Behavior Analysis?

Your first appointment will be an evaluation, and we’ll develop a treatment plan from there. Our treatment is adaptive. The goal of mental health treatment is to meet the unique needs of each person. Treatment plans will be modified as needed to ensure that they continue to meet the individual’s needs.

Applied Behavior Analysis teaches people how to cope with and communicate about challenges in their everyday lives. This includes teaching social skills that can help them manage their behavior.

Treatment Techniques

Application

The first step to receiving ABA Therapy at Elite DNA is to meet with a Care Coordinator who will guide you through the application process, ensuring you feel supported every step of the way.

Intake

Once your application is approved and submitted, you will have an intake appointment with a Care Coordinator. Our Care Coordinator will take in your medical history and discuss your concerns.

Evaluation

After all necessary documentation is submitted and provider availability is confirmed, we will perform a detailed evaluation to gain insight into your child’s specific needs and develop the most suitable treatment plan. This step is essential for creating a personalized approach. Our therapists will also provide recommendations for the frequency of your child’s sessions.

Behavior Intervention Plan

Following the evaluation, a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst will create a Behavior Intervention Plan tailored to your child’s unique needs. This plan will be shared with caregivers for review before being submitted to insurance for approval.

Starting ABA Therapy

Once the Behavior Intervention Plan is approved, we’ll begin providing therapy services tailored to your child’s goals.
