About Terri Phoenix
Are you looking for a place to find acceptance, understanding, and safety? So many of us lack this environment in our everyday life. I hope that by working with me that you can start to feel these things, start a healing journey, and find a better understanding of self.
I work with work with adults, children, and families who have anxiety, depression, trauma, and parenting issues. I implement an integrative and collaborative approach to therapy by utilizing Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Attachment-Based and Mindfulness techniques. I also incorporate Expressive Arts and Play Therapy.
My goal is to approach our therapeutic relationship with a compassion, non-judgment, empathy, and acceptance as I believe a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation to therapeutic success.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Nationally Certified Counselor and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I grew up in South Carolina, where I was a special education teacher for 10 years and relocated to Florida where I raised my children. I later moved to Georgia in 2005 and attended the University of West Georgia, where I earned a Master of Education in professional counseling.
My experience includes in-patient, outpatient, and residential settings with clients ranging from adolescents, and young adults to older adult populations. I have worked with adult clients facilitating process groups for those suffering from a variety of presenting issues. I have been part of many paths with adults, young adults, adolescents, children, and families who have chosen to heal from their core wounds and emotional challenges.
In my spare time you will find me curled up with a good book. I love gardening and listening to music. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends.
