About Susan Kimper

I have been a nurse for 45 years in a variety of practice settings and roles. As a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), I utilize a holistic approach to psychiatry and mental health issues by putting together the whole picture of what you’re dealing with and then establishing a care plan that is tailored to you. My job, much like being a detective, is about collecting the information and details about your story to establish a diagnosis. Using evidence-based screening tools, academic journals and cross-collaboration among colleagues, helps me to ensure an accurate diagnosis. Following this step, I partner with the you (and your family if applicable) to develop a meaningful comprehensive treatment plan. I believe that is important to recognize the role of medications, therapy, diet, exercise, sleep hygiene, the environment, relationships, spirituality and stress management. All of these aspects will be incorporated into our treatment plan to help improve your quality of life.

A critical part of my role as a PMNHP is to create a healing space where you feel fully accepted for who you are and then work to develop a caring, trusting relationship with you and their family. My intention is that each person who works with me will leave my office with something of value. I look forward to working with you soon.
