About Rafael Montano
My name is Rafael Montano, and I was born in El Salvador, grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and I now call Central Florida home! I have experience working with individuals, teens, couples and families. I believe the therapeutic relationship is key, so I strive to create a safe, compassionate, collaborative, and trusting environment in the counseling room.
I have experience working with different issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, anger, relationship and intimacy issues, acculturation problems, racism, and oppression. I incorporate Person-Centered, Emotionally Focused, and Attachment based approaches alongside tools from other approaches/theories to best help and serve my clients to uncover what is hidden on their healing journey.
In my personal time, I enjoy watching movies and tv shows, reading, working out, cooking, watching sporting events, going to theme parks, and spending quality time with my wife and dogs.
“Each of us needs someone to bear witness to the core stories of our lives, and to help us make sense of why our life looks and feels the way it does. The goal of counseling, however, is not merely to understand our lives. The goal is to live -and to love- in a way that is simultaneously more tender and more strong, more alive to both the beauty and tragedy of life.” Adam Young
