About Lissette Muñiz
My name is Lissette Muñiz. I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from Hunter College of NYC and my Master of Arts Degree in Counseling & School Guidance from Webster University in 2013. I have been a Licensed Mental Health Counselor through the State of Florida Department of Health since 2019. I am also a Qualified Supervisor for Registered Mental Health Counselor Interns.
I have provided therapeutic services since 2013, working with children, adolescents and adults in community-based care. I have treated a variety of issues, such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem, body image, LGBT issues, social anxiety, relationship and family conflicts, impulse control, emotional regulation, low motivation, parenting issues, adjusting to life changes and more.
I believe that a strong therapeutic rapport is vital in helping my clients achieve their goals. I am dedicated to my clients and utilize a warm approach utilizing empathy and genuineness to help my clients feel safe, supported, understood and connected. I blend a variety of techniques from cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, solution-focused brief therapy, and a person-centered approach while applying a trauma-informed perspective. I have also received basic training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy. I strive to help my clients learn healthy coping skills, recognize and replace faulty thinking, learn effective communication and adaptive ways to increase coping and healing. My goal is to assist my clients in exploring underlying causes of symptoms to create long-term change.
