About Laurie Johnson

Laurie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 26 years of experience who enjoys working
with individuals and families to help guide them to navigate the challenges of life. Prior to
becoming an LCSW, she was a licensed teacher in the Miami Dade County Public School System
for 11 years. Presently, Laurie works with individuals ages 21+ who experience
symptoms consistent with depression, anxiety, panic disorders, co-occurring disorders, complex
PTSD, grief and loss, ADHD, as well as mood disturbances. Additionally, Laurie has a passion for
working with first responders and combat as well as non-combat veterans.

Laurie describes herself as having a down-to-earth nature, sense of humor and a personable
demeanor. She has an eclectic approach utilizing various theoretical modalities, behavioral
neuroscience and real-life experience. She caters the therapy session to each client’s individual
therapeutic needs. Laurie is trained in evidence-based models to process trauma
to include Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure. She is currently working on
becoming certified in Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), which is also utilized for the
treatment of PTSD, depression and other mental health disorders. Other areas of specialization
include Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Skills Training, CBT – I and more.
