About Joan Clifton
I am a Registered Clinical Social Worker Intern with a Master of Social Work from Florida State University and over 15 years of combined experience in behavioral health, crisis intervention, child welfare, and public service. My diverse background equips me with a deep understanding of trauma, resilience, and the systems that impact mental health and recovery.
As a Behavioral Therapist, I provide individual, family, and group therapy for adults and adolescents struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, and PTSD. I draw from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Focused CBT, and trauma-informed care. I specialize in crisis de-escalation, safety planning, and building practical coping skills to help clients achieve meaningful, lasting change.
My prior work experience and education give me the ability to support clients navigating complex challenges such as family dynamics, grief, abuse recovery, and life transitions. I am committed to creating a safe, collaborative, and culturally sensitive space where clients feel heard, empowered, and supported in their healing journey.
I currently offer in-person and telehealth services. Let’s work together to build the tools and support you need to thrive.
