Gita Patel is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (FL) with almost 20 years of clinical experience working with adults, children, adolescents and families with a focus on trauma/abuse-related, mental health conditions and developmental disabilities. She has vast leadership experience as clinical director, manager and supervisor. Extensive clinical experience with court involved, pregnant and/or parenting teens using a trauma focused approach. Experience with providing trauma informed therapy services for children and families involved with the Department of Children and Families and dependency courts. Experienced and trained in evidenced-based trauma therapies including Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Infant Mental Health (IMH) counseling, Play Therapy, and expertise in clinically treating clients with sexual abuse, domestic violence and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder on an individual and group basis. Skilled education coordinator focusing on trauma related and mental health topics. Educational audiences include law enforcement agencies, sexual assault and domestic violence response teams, middle, high school and college age students, teachers, mental health professionals, hospital workers and social service workers.
