About Donna L. LaPalm

As cliche as this may be, I absolutely LOVE what I do. I have heard it said more than one time that this is a thankless job, but I disagree. This is the most rewarding job, and I can not see my self doing anything else. Someone may come in for the first time not knowing where to turn, what to say (or not say.) Then they’ll arrive for their next session and experience a “light bulb” moment where everything clicks — where THEY notice the change in themselves. It’s a beautiful thing to witness!

I consider myself to be very proficient at putting people at ease — a.k.a rapport building — from session number one! It may be because I have been in those shoes myself, multiple times — as a client, and as a parent as well. I know how it feels to be vulnerable and concerned, and I find a little empathy goes a long way.

How do I run my sessions? At first I may or may not ask a lot of questions, depending on the person, their issues, and, of course, age range. I am very easy to talk to — so I’ve been told over and again! I am strong on psychoanalysis (I refer to myself as Freudian), and I have worked with clients from ages 7-77 — male and female alike.

I have done a lot of trauma-informed care since I’ve begun my career as a therapist, as well as many other issues over the years. I am looking forward to assisting as many people as possible!
