About Cierra McKenzie

Cierra McKenzie was born in St. Petersburg, Florida and raised in Bloomfield, Connecticut. Growing up, she a great life but had a hard time figuring out what she wanted to do and who she wanted to be. Until she started watching the television series, The Fosters. Then, she knew she wanted to help individuals be given a voice and a second chance, that didn’t grow up as fortunate as she was. She moved back to Florida in 2014 when her great grandmother passed to be closer to home and finished her last 3 years of high school in Jacksonville, Florida. She then went on to obtain her Associate of Arts Degree from Tallahassee Community College. She transferred & became a 2x graduate of the Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University graduating Summa Cum Laude with her Bachelor’s & Master of Science in Social Work. During the COVID19 pandemic outbreak she took the initiative to go obtain her master’s in business administration as an online student in the first Alpha Cohort at Edward Waters University in Jacksonville, Florida. She is now an online Psychology PHD candidate at the Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona.
Miss McKenzie is also a registered clinical social worker intern in the state of Florida, working to obtain her LCSW. After achieving her PHD in Psychology with an emphasis in Cognition & Instruction and gaining her LCSW licensure this year, she wants to eventually go back to school to get a master’s in legal studies and later, open her own nonprofit agency for at risk youth to help them get a second chance to get back on their feet. Until then, she wants to keep helping and advocating for the less fortunate in her community in any way that she can. She is proud of the work she has done thus far.
Miss McKenzie has been in the field of social work post grad for 3 plus years, gaining clinical skill exposure. From being a mentor, to interning at the Office of the Public Defender, to working at the Disc Village Juvenile Assessment Center as a screener, a foster care dependency case manager at Camelot Community Care, where she became a certified human trafficking worker, a certified child welfare case manager, CPR & First Aid certified, and working as a tele counselor at New Season Colonial Management Group, working as a Therapist at Diamond Behavioral Health, to even now, working as a Behavioral Health Consultant in the  Mental Health Department, those roles have shaped her into the Social Worker she is now and the even better one she hopes to be in the future.
Apart from her academic studies and career roles, Miss McKenzie enjoys traveling and spoiling herself. She even had the grand opportunity to be a host mom to 2 foreign exchange students, one from Brazil and the other from Spain; she hopes to do it again someday. She also loves to eat, bowl, dance, sleep, listen to music, go to church on Sundays & Bible Study, and spend quality time with her loved ones. She is, too, a huge basketball fan and is a proud member of the Divine 9, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated!
