About Vanessa Klokis

Hi. I’m Vanessa, an associate therapist at Elite DNA’s Gainesville office. I am a social worker from Pennsylvania and came to Florida to chase the sunshine, warm days, and short drives to the beach!

My hope is to meet you where you are — on your terms. I work within a trauma-informed, person-centered approach with deep respect for you, your well-being, and the work you do both in and out of sessions. I enjoy combining mindfulness, dialectic behavior therapy (DBT), and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to explore thoughts, emotions, and beliefs. From there, we can explore grounding and stress management strategies, gently challenge thoughts that aren’t serving you in your present-day life, and find alternative ways to work with these thoughts in a kind and self-compassionate way.

My philosophy on mental health is very person-centered; we’re all people doing the best we can with what we have. When working with clients, I strive to create a safe, warm, and compassionate space with the goal of meeting people exactly where they are — as they are — so we can work together to help you connect more deeply with yourself and the world around you.

“Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone.”
― Fred Rogers
